Your first destination on your off the beaten path Kenya safari will be Naivasha. In Naivasha, you will visit Hells gate national park where you will have game drives with option of a nature walk. After visiting Hells gate national park, the rest of the day will be spent in relaxation at the lodge with optional boat rides which can be arranged by the camp staff. Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake with sandy banks and fringed with papyrus. The lake is also surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, also known as the yellow fever tree. These forests are abundant with bird life. The waters of the lake attract a wide range of game to the shores. 

The next destination on the safari will be one of the best wildlife reserve in the world. The Masai Mara game reserve.  In Masai mara, you will have game drives with an option of having a balloon safari at an extra cost. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant like in the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is one of the best destinations in the world for wildlife viewing in their Natural environment. There are over 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and more than 400 birds species recorded on the reserve. The reserve is famous for the wildebeest migration that occurs annually where more than two million animals arrive in Masai Mara from Serengeti in July and go back in October. All members of the big five are found here.

From Masai mara game reserve  you will proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru National Park has over 400 bird species making it a bird watchers paradise. In addition it is home to over 50 mammal species. The park is famous for the flocks of the greater and lesser Flamingo that gather around the lake numbering around 2 million, which turns the lake pink. This has given the lake a nickname; the pink lake.  Other avifauna to be seen include variety of include Yellow-billed Pelicans, Marabou Storks, Hammerkops et.)

The 14 days off the beaten path Kenya safari continues to Samburu National reserve. It is one of the destinations which is less visited making it an ideal place to enjoy wildlife with little distraction. Both birdlife and wildlife are abundant within the reserve. The five animal species that are only inherent to this reserve include the gerenuk gazelle, the Beisa Oryx, the grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. These animals bear characteristics that differentiate them from other members of similar species found elsewhere within the country. 

After the tour of Samburu game reserve, you will head to Mount Kenya National Park. The first attraction to the area is the presence of the second highest mountain in Africa. The mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks provides a perfect backdrop while viewing wildlife. Elephants are a common sight in this park. In addition to the elephant, you will spot other animals such as: white tailed mongoose, suni, black fronted duiker, mole rat, bush-bucks, water-buck and elands. Other animals include, tree hyrax, leopards, black rhinos, and buffaloes. This is also a less visited area.

The last park to visit which is also less visited is Meru National Park. A park that is  wild and beautiful park. It Straddles the equator and bisected by 13 rivers and numerous mountain-fed streams. Meru National Park is also home to the Big Five. Big herds of Elephants migrate through the park. There are over 300 species of birds. They include: Red-necked falcon, Heuglins courser, brown-backed woodpecker, sunbirds Peter’s Fin foot, inhabiting the Murera and Ura Rivers; Pel’s Fishing Owl, kingfishers, rollers, bee-eaters, starlings and weavers. DAY 1: NAIROBI TO LAKE NAIVASHA

Pick up from your Nairobi hotel and drive to Lake Naivasha with a brief stop at Mai Mahiu view point to see the Great Rift Valley. You will then be driven straight to the Hells Gate National Park national park where you will have game drives with an option of a guided nature walk among wild animals. After having lunch at your hotel will spend the afternoon at leisure with the option of enjoying boat rides at your own cost.

DAY 2: LAKE NAIVASHA TO MASAI MARA

Depart Lake Naivasha early in the morning and drive to Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch. On arrival. you will check in at the lodge and have lunch and short rest. Afterwards you will proceed for a late afternoon game drive in the game reserve, one of East Africa’s top safari destinations. The Masai Mara is typical open Savannah with a mass of amazing wildlife. Returning from your foray into the Masai Mara you will have dinner and later fall asleep to the sound of the African bush.

DAY 3 and 4: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

On the this two days you will proceed for a full day game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife reserve. The game drives take you in search of Africa’s big five and the plethora of wildlife inhabiting this vast territory. Wherever you go within the Mara you will see a frequent amount of both birdlife and wildlife. which includes giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impalas, hartebeests and wildebeest. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next one. You will also have an option visiting a masai village at arranged by the driver guide.

DAY 5 and 6: LAKE NAKURU

Depart Masai Mara after breakfast and head to Lake Nakuru. On arrival at lake Nakuru national park, you will enter and have en route game drive as you head to you lodge located deep inside the park. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. After a short period of relaxation you continue with game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park popularly known as a bird watchers paradise. Millions of flamingoes are found on the lake giving it a pink hue. It is likewise home to the endangered black rhino, big cats and other wildlife. Two days will be spent in this wonderful park.

DAY 7: SAMBURU GAME RESERVE

After an early breakfast leave for Samburu National Reserve and be driven steadily arriving at around 1.30 PM. After lunch and short rest proceed for a late afternoon Game drive.

Samburu National Reserve is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Kenya. This means plenty of water, trees and shade to attract wildlife like the elephant, lion, leopard giraffe and zebra from the surrounding savannah plains. Cheetahs are also regularly spotted.

DAY 8 AND 9: SAMBURU GAME RESERVE

Have full day game drives in this wild and rugged piece of heaven. Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Ewaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected parks and is home to species only native to the north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryxes, gerenuk gazelle to the greater and lesser kudu

DAY 10:MOUNT KENYA NATIONAL PARK

Depart Samburu early in the morning and proceed to Mount Kenya National Park. Mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest mountain and is a world heritage site. It is a pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forests, mineral springs and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals such as the tree hyrax, the white tailed mongoose, black fronted duiker, molerat, bushbucks and eland. You will arrive in time for lunch and afterwards the rest of the afternoon will be spent at leisure in the lodge while watching the animals come to have a drink at the waterhole. Nature walks in the rain forest can be arranged at an extra cost.

DAY 11:  MERU NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will depart Mount Kenya and drive to Meru National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch. After short rest you embark on a late afternoon game drive within the park.

DAY 12 AND 13: MERU NATIONAL PARK

This is truly an off the beaten path destination. In these two days you will have morning and afternoon game drives within the park with less crowd. Meru wildlife includes large herds of Buffalo, Bushbuck, Duiker, Eland, Elephant, Gazelle, Genet, Giraffe, Hartebeest, Impala, Kudu, Waterbuck and Grevy Zebra.

Expect to see Baboons, Hyena, Jackal, Kudu, Lion, Mongoose, Oryx, Oribi, Vervet Monkey and Warthogs, Bush-pig, Porcupine, Black and White Rhino. The rivers are abound in Hippo and Crocodile. Bird life includes Peter’s fin foot which inhabits the Murera and Ura Rivers, the Pel’s fishing Owl, Kingfishers, Rollers, Bee-eaters, Starlings and numerous weavers.
