9 DAYS KENYA SAFARI

The 9 Days Kenya Safari takes you to 4 premier destinations in Kenya. They are Amboseli National Park, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park. On the 9 Days Kenya Safari, a minimum of 2 nights will be spent in each of the four destinations. Spending two nights in each place will enable one to have enough time to sample and appreciate what is offered in the destination. It will also allow for rest and relaxation and reduce the frequency of packing and unpacking. Accommodation will be in midrange lodges. There is an option for choosing the mode of transportation and game drives between a two wheel drive safari van and 4 wheel drive safari land cruiser. The four wheel drive option is highly recommended. The meal plan is full board. A range of extra activities are available and they include a balloon safari which cost between$400 and $450 per adult. This can be organized by us if you are interested. Others include a cultural Masai village visit and boat rides.

The 9 days Kenya Safari is a private safari which means that the safari vehicle will not be shared by other travelers. The safari is ideal for a minimum of two people or more. It is still possible to customize this safari to meet your requirements.

The destinations to be visited are:

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park boasts of over 80 different types of Mammals and over 400 bird species. Its main attraction is huge numbers of big tasked elephants which can be viewed at close range in their natural environment. Other animals which can be seen in the park include Cape buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, spotted hyena, Masai giraffe, Grant’s zebra, wildebeest and many others. Birds to be seen include the Madagascar Pond-Heron, Lesser Flamingo, Lesser Kestrel, the Shoebill over 40 species of birds of prey among many  others. Another major attraction to the park is Mt Kilimanjaro which is Africa’s highest peak at (5895m).

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake with sandy banks and fringed with papyrus in Kenya. The lake is also surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, also known as the yellow fever tree. These forests are abundant with bird life. The waters of the lake attracts a wide range of game to the shores. Giraffes and waterbucks wander among the acacia. Buffalos are common. Colobus monkeys are seen on the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population can be easily seen in the lake. Another attraction is Hells Gate National Park where you can have a guided nature walk or cycle to your heart’s content past grazing zebras, giraffes, impalas and buffaloes. Also spot rock hyraxes as they clamber up inclines and chase dust clouds as they swirl in the wind. And if the pedaling isn’t enough exercise, hike the gorge or climb Fischer’s Tower.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant like in the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is one of the best destinations in the world for wildlife viewing in their Natural environment. There are over 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and more than 400 birds species recorded on the reserve. The reserve is famous for the annual wildebeest migration that occurs annually where more than two million animals arrive in Masai Mara from Serengeti in July and go back in October. All members of the big five are found here.

Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park has over 400 bird species making it a bird watchers paradise. In addition it is home to over 50 mammal species. When it comes to plant species, it has over 500. The park is famous for the flocks of the greater and lesser Flamingo that gather around the lake numbering around 2 million, which turns the lake pink. This has given the lake a nickname; the pink lake.  Other avifauna to be seen include variety of water birds (Yellow-billed Pelicans, Marabou Storks, Hammerkops and Fish Eagles.  It offers sanctuary to the endangered rhino and it has the largest population in Kenya. Another animal that in endangered and find residence in Lake Nakuru National Park is the Rothschild giraffe.

9 DAYS KENYA SAFARI  ITINERARY

DAY ONE: NAIROBI TO AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

You will be picked by the driver guide in the morning and be driven Amboseli National Park. You will arrive in time for Lunch. After lunch and brief rest, you will proceed on an afternoon game drive viewing the various attractions in the park.

Back to the lodge in the evening

DAY TWO: AMBOSELI

On day two you will have a full day of wildlife viewing in one of Kenya’s premier park. After breakfast, you will proceed on a full day game drive with parked lunches. The day will be spent exploring various sections of the park and viewing its amazing wildlife and different habitat which include the seasonal Lake Amboseli and the observation hill. You will also have have an option of visiting a Masai village as you head back to the lodge.

You will be driven back to the hotel in the evening.

DAY THREE: AMBOSELI TO LAKE NAIVASHA

Depart Amboseli after an early breakfast and drive to Lake Naivasha where you will arrive in time for lunch. On the way, you will have a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley view point. This day will be spent at leisure. You will have option of boat rides in the lake at an extra cost.

DAY FOUR: HELLS GATE

After breakfast you will be driven to Hells Gate National Park where you will have a guided walking safari among the wildlife. You can also hike in the park. You will be taken back to the lodge in the afternoon for lunch. The rest of the days will be spent at leisure by the lake.

DAY FIVE: NAIVASHA TO MASAI MARA

You will leave Lake Naivasha in the morning after early breakfast and drive to Masai Mara National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch. After lunch and brief rest, you will have an afternoon game drive.

DAY SIX: FULL DAY MASAI MARA GAME DRIVES

After breakfast you leave the lodge carrying packed lunches and embark on a full day game viewing in Africa’s finest park. You will be driven to various places in the expansive Masai Mara National Reserve. In the late afternoon, you will have an option of visiting a Masai cultural village as you head back to the lodge.

You will be back to the lodge in the evening.

DAY SEVEN: MASAI MARA TO NAKURU

After an early morning breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will enter the park and have an en  route game drive as you head to the lodge arriving in time for lunch. After lunch and brief rest continue with an afternoon game drive.

Return to the lodge in the evening.

DAY EIGHT: LAKE NAKURU

You will have an early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast around 9AM. The rest of the time will be spent relaxing the lodge. After lunch you will embark on the second phase of the game drive of the day. You will be taken back to the lodge in the evening.

DAY NINE: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK TO NAIROBI

Depart the lodge after breakfast and be driven to Nairobi. On arrival, you will be hosted for lunch at the famous carnivore restaurant before being dropped at your hotel or the airport

Park rules/code of conduct

  • Respect the privacy of the wildlife, this is their habitat.
  • Beware of the animals, they are wild and can be unpredictable.
  • Don’t crowd the animals or make sudden noises or movements.
  • Don’t feed the animals, it upsets their diet and leads to human dependence.
  • Keep quiet, noise disturbs the wildlife and may antagonize your fellow visitors.
  • Stay in your vehicle at all times, except at designated picnic or walking areas.
  • Keep below the maximum speed limit (40 kph/25 mph).
  • Never drive off-road, this severely damages the habitat.
  • When viewing wildlife keep to a minimum distance of 20 meters and pull to the side of the road so as to allow others to pass.
  • Leave no litter and never leave fires unattended or discard burning objects.
  • Respect the cultural heritage of Kenya, never take pictures of the local people or their habitat without asking their permission, respect the cultural traditions of Kenya and always dress with decorum.
  • Stay over or leave before dusk, visitors must vacate the Park between 6.00 p.m. – 6.00 a.m. unless they are camping overnight. Night game driving is not allowed.
