9 DAY KENYAN TOUR

Prepare yourself for a whirlwind of wonders with Kichaka tours and travel in this 9 day Kenyan tour package. First leg of the tour sees you visit the Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos and endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.

Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself. The surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges can also be enjoyed. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives. Lake Nakuru is also a bird sanctuary.

You will then move on to the Masai Mara National Reserve known as one of the finest wildlife destination. With an excellent chance of seeing the big five. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. Have a brief stop over at the Lake Naivasha.

Later visit the Amboseli National Park. The one place that offers you an awe inspiring view of the tallest mountain in Africa. It is also the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close.

Nature lovers can explore five habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands.  They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

We then head to Tsavo west National Park. Furthermore, Tsavo West Park is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. It offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world. Some of the attractions include rhinos, Hippos, lions, Buffaloes, diverse plants and bird species. Birds include the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler.

Finally, the 9 day Kenyan tour shall come to an end after your visit to the Tsavo East National Park. The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300 kilomtere long Yatta Plateau. It is the longest lava flow in the world making an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East.

 

 

DAY ONE:

NAIROBI TO LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Approx. Distance: 156km Time: 3hours

You shall be picked up from your hotel residence or the International Airport before being driven to the Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way you shall have a crisp view of the rift valley formed as result of land faulting.  Upon arrival you shall check into the hotel located inside the park and have lunch. After lunch and a period of relaxation you will then have your afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park which is also known as a bird watchers paradise. It is quite common to find a flamboyance of flamingos feeding from the lake and hence giving the Lake a distinct pink hue in the parts covered by them. It is also home to the endangered black rhino, big cats and other wild life.

DAY TWO:

LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK TO MAASAI MARA

Approx. Distance: 195.8km Time: 4hours

Rise up early and have your breakfast before heading to the Maasai Mara also known as the world cup of wildlife in Africa. This area of preserved savannah wilderness covers an area of 1510km2 and is part of the vast Serengeti plains. It is widely known for its picturesque wildebeest migration. It is home to the big five that is the lion, the buffalo, the rhino, the elephant and the leopard among other magnificent animals such as the giraffes, black backed jackal, bat eared fox, Thomson gazelle, topi and hartebeest. It also harbours over 500 different species of birds such as ostrich, bustard, white backed vulture, secretary bird and marabou stork. Upon your arrival you will proceed to your lodge for your lunch before you head out for an afternoon game drive through the astounding reserve. All your flora and fauna related questions will be aptly answered by your driver guide as you make your rounds.

DAY THREE:

FULL DAY MAASAI MARA GAME DRIVES

Have breakfast and then proceed for a full day tour game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife reserve, the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera. Wherever you go you will see a frequent amount of wildlife. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. After your afternoon game drive you retire to your lodge where you shall have your dinner before heading to bed and falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

DAY FOUR:

MAASAI MARA TO LAKE NAIVASHA

Approx. Distance: 228km Time: 4hours 30mins

After an exhilarating two nights within this astounding reserve you shall depart to your next destination known as Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake fringed by thick papyrus and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty abound in bird life such as fish eagles, ospreys, lily trotters, a variety of herons and over 200 more species. You will enjoy a boat ride on the glittering lake Naivasha and view the herds of hippos and various water birds found within the lake. You shall arrive at your lodge in time for lunch before heading out for your boat ride.

DAY FIVE:

LAKE NAIVASHA TO AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

 Approx. Distance: 356km Time: 6hours

You shall rise early, have your breakfast then begin your journey to the Amboseli National Park. Arrival will be in time for lunch before embarking on your afternoon game drive. You shall embark on a search for the free range tusked elephants, wildebeest, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, Maasai giraffe among other animals. Here you will also get to enjoy the breath-taking photogenic view of Mount Kilimanjaro depending on the weathers cooperation. After this you will head back to your lodge for the night.

DAY SIX:

FULL DAY AMBOSELI GAME DRIVES

For the purposes of getting amazing views of the Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit, you will be required to rise early. Before setting off for another stimulating game drive. Amboseli is an excellent place to view a multitude of wildlife, including everything from Wildebeest to Giraffes to Baboons. On this day you will have both morning and evening game drives as per your preferences.

DAY SEVEN:

AMBOSELI – TSAVO WEST

Approx.Distance: 90km TIME: 1hr 45 minutes

Have your breakfast then depart driving leisurely to Tsavo West National Park. The Park is a vast expansion of African savannah with a more diverse array of habitats which include open plains, semi desert scrub, woodland, Chyulu Hills and rock outcrops. It is famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and bird life. Some more unforgettable features found within this park include features  Mzima Springs which sprouts fresh water from a dry and parched piece of rock, the Shetani Lava Flow and also Ash cones. The Movie Ghost and the Darkness was shot from here. You will enjoy a well deserved lunch break at Serena Kilaguni Safari Lodge. After lunch the fun continues with some more game watching. You shall exit the park in the evening and head over to Tsavo East where you shall check into the Voi Wildlife Lodge for the night.

DAY EIGHT:

TSAVO EAST GAME DRIVES

Rise and have your morning meal before heading out for a full experience of Tsavo East National Park. It offers some of the most to die for game viewing experiences.This park  is renowned for its large numbers of elephants , the famous man eating lions and other physical attractions like Tsavo River, Yatta Plateau which is 300 km2, Mdanda Rock, Lugard Falls, Voi seasonal River and Aruba Dam.
