5 DAYS 4 NIGHTS NAKURU AND MAASAI MARA

This safari takes you to the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. It is ideal for bird watching, hiking and game drives. Next destination is Maasai Mara National reserve, the world cup of wildlife. You will spend your time in search of the big five among other wild animals. The Masai Mara is the most popular destination in the world especially due to the annual wildebeest’s migration which involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July to October. This migration is wildlife spectacular like none other on earth. We will finalize our safari in Lake Naivasha, well known for boat rides and birdwatching.

The wildlife adventure of these 5 days Nakuru, Masai Mara and Naivasha ends back in Nairobi on the last day.

DAY 1: NAIROBI-LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

DISTANCE: 170 KM, TIME; 3 HOUR 30 MINS

You will be picked up by our company representatives at the airport/hotel and drive to the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at the lodge. After lunch and short relaxation, enjoy an afternoon game drive around the park. Lake Nakuru National Park is among Kenya’s finest national parks. It is well known for its conservation efforts towards the endangered black and white rhinos and the Rothschild giraffe. There are more than 50 different species of mammals including, white rhinos, waterbucks, buffalos, and baboons. It’s also renowned for its millions of pink flamingos lining the shores of Lake Nakuru.

DAY 2:MAASAI MARA RESERVE

DISTANCE: 160 KM, TIME: 3 HOURS 30 MINS

 

Morning breakfast then drive to the most scenic and amazing tourist destination, the Maasai Mara with an awe inspiring view of the Great Rift Valley on your way.  This area of preserved savannah wilderness covers an area of 1510km2 and is part of the vast Serengeti plains. It is widely known for its picturesque wildebeest migration. It is home to the big five among other magnificent animals such as the giraffes, black backed jackal, bat eared fox, Thomson gazelle, topi and hartebeest. It also harbours over 500 different species of birds such as ostrich, bustard, white backed vulture, secretary bird and marabou stork. You will arrive in time for lunch. After a short relaxation period you will embark on your afternoon game drive to feast your eyes on the marvels that the Mara has to offer. In the evening you will retire to your lodge, have dinner and fall asleep to the sounds of the bush.

DAY 3: MAASAI MARA FULL DAY GAME DRIVES

After a scrumptious breakfast you will head out for a full day Mara experience. The morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of the Big Five as well as the plethora of outstanding wildlife found within the reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera. Wherever you go in the vast Maasai Mara the abundance of wildlife is staggering. . It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. You also have an option of visiting the cultural maasai village. Back to the camp in the evening.

DAY 4: MAASAI MARA RESERVE-LAKE NAIVASHA

DISTANCE: APPROX; 107 KM, TIME; ABOUT 2 HOURS 25 MINS

After breakfast, you will head to Naivasha to discover its best kept secret; the Crescent Island. This wondrous island is in Lake Naivasha which is a beautiful freshwater lake fringed by thick papyrus and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty abound in bird life such as fish eagles, ospreys, lily trotters, a variety of herons and over 200 more species. You will have also  enjoy a boat ride on the glittering lake Naivasha and view the herds of hippos and various water birds found within the lake on your way to the island . At the island you get a chance to be up close to the array of wildlife such as giraffes, waterbucks, elands, wildebeest, zebras, impalas and the elusive colobus monkey. The sanctuary does not contain any predators, so it is perfectly safe to do the walk with the appointed guide.

DAY 5:LAKE NAIVASHA-NAIROBI

DISTANCE: APPROX; 93 KM, TIME; ABOUT 2 HOURS 15 MINS

After breakfast, you’ll drive to reach Nairobi. You’ll then be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport according to your International flight schedule.
