The Park has Kenya’s largest population of rhinos. The surface of the Lake Nakuru occupies about a third of the park. It supports a dense bloom of the blue-green algae from which is a food source for flamingos. During peak season over millions of flamingos and Pelicans congregate on the lake.
Next destination is Maasai Mara National reserve. The Mara goes beyond description since it is not just tourist attraction but the reason to be in Kenya. The big game in Maasai Mara is indeed unforgettable. Maasai Mara is only a fraction of the great Mara ecosystem. It is located in the great Rift Valley in southern Kenya.
Mara is in south west of Nairobi which is 247 km away. Rainfall Mara is bimodal with the dry period in June to October and dry season in January and February. Long rains from March to June and short rains in November and December. Mara has about 95 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians and 400 birds that have been spotted. In the reserve, there various airstrips serving different safari lodges and tented camps, for example Keekorok and Olkiombo airstrips.
The reserve can be visited all year round with emphasis on July through October when the great wildebeest migration happen. During this period, Mara is filled with wildebeests, as well as normal resident herds such as buffaloes. We will finalize our safari in Lake Naivasha. Well known for boat rides and bird-watching.

You will be picked up by our company representatives at the airport/hotel and drive to the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at the lodge. After lunch and short relaxation, enjoy an afternoon game drive around the park. Lake Nakuru National Park is among Kenya’s finest national parks. It is well known for its conservation efforts towards the endangered black and white rhinos and the Rothschild giraffe. There are more than 50 different species of mammals including, white rhinos, waterbucks, buffalos, and baboons. It’s also renowned for its millions of pink flamingos lining the shores of Lake Nakuru.

MAASAI MARA RESERVE

Morning breakfast then drive to the most scenic and amazing tourist destination, the Maasai Mara with an awe inspiring view of the Great Rift Valley on your way. This area of preserved savannah wilderness covers an area of 1510km2 and is part of the vast Serengeti plains. It is widely known for its picturesque wildebeest migration. It is home to the big five among other magnificent animals such as the giraffes, black backed jackal, bat eared fox, Thomson gazelle, topi and hartebeest. It also harbours over 500 different species of birds such as ostrich, bustard, white backed vulture, secretary bird and marabou stork. You will arrive in time for lunch. After a short relaxation period you will embark on your afternoon game drive to feast your eyes on the marvels that the Mara has to offer. In the evening you will retire to your lodge, have dinner and fall asleep to the sounds of the bush.

MAASAI MARA FULL DAY GAME DRIVES
After a scrumptious breakfast you will head out for a full day Mara experience. The morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of the Big Five as well as the plethora of outstanding wildlife found within the reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera. Wherever you go in the vast Maasai Mara the abundance of wildlife is staggering. . It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. You also have an option of visiting the cultural maasai village. Back to the camp in the evening.

After breakfast, you will head to Naivasha to discover its best kept secret; the Crescent Island. This wondrous island is in Lake Naivasha which is a beautiful freshwater lake fringed by thick papyrus and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty abound in bird life such as fish eagles, ospreys, lily trotters, a variety of herons and over 200 more species. You will have also enjoy a boat ride on the glittering lake Naivasha and view the herds of hippos and various water birds found within the lake on your way to the island . At the island you get a chance to be up close to the array of wildlife such as giraffes, waterbucks, elands, wildebeest, zebras, impalas and the elusive colobus monkey. The sanctuary does not contain any predators, so it is perfectly safe to do the walk with the appointed guide.
