16 days Bush and Beach Kenya Safari begins with a visit to the central part of Kenya. Next we proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park also famous for Flamingoes and the endangered black and white rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives. Visitors can therefore enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats found in Lake Nakuru National park.

After lake Nakuru you visit Lake Bogoria. It is backed by the bleak Siracho Escarpment, and moss-green waves roll down its rocky, barren shores. A track runs along the lake’s western shore, which is where flamingos gather. About halfway along the lake, hot springs and geysers spew boiling fluids from the earth’s insides. If you get here early in the morning, you may have the place to yourself. You can either explore on foot or bicycle.

From here we shall head to Saiwa national park. It is the smallest national park in Kenya. Only 3 km², and is a habitat for the Sitatunga, a rare aquatic antelope. It is also has a forested paradise filled with exotic flowers, trees and birds.

We shall also explore Kakamega Forest, the only equatorial forest in Kenya. This beautiful forest is home to various mammals including bush pigs, giant forest hedgehogs, colobus monkeys, Debrazzar monkeys and pottos. Some of the birds to be seen here include the Blue Headed Bee Eater, Black Billed Turaco and Grey Parrots. You will enjoy Bird watching, hiking and rock climbing.

We shall wind up our western visit with visit at the Lake Victoria. The lake is the heart of the African continent, the source of its mightiest river, the Nile. Here you will enjoy boat riding and also bird watching among other activities.

You will then move on to the Masai Mara National Reserve known as one of the finest wildlife destination. Here there is an excellent chance of seeing the big five among other wildlife. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing.

Later head to Lake Naivasha. Here you shall tour hells gate national park. Named after the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, the Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs makes it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa. You may opt for boat rides at the lake at your own cost.

Later visit the Amboseli National Park. This is one place that offers you an awe inspiring view of the tallest mountain in Africa. It is also the best places in Africa to view large herds of African elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

We then head to Tsavo East National Park. Sights of elephants wallowing and spraying each other with midnight blue waters is one of the most evocative images. This, along with the 300 kilomtere long Yatta Plateau. It is the longest lava flow in the world making an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East.

Finally, wind up the 16 days bush and beach safari with well deserved relaxation at pristine Diani beach regarded as the best beach in Africa.

DAY 1: NAIROBI TO SAGANA

Pick up from your airport or Hotel in the morning and drive approximately 100 km towards the central part of Kenya. Lunch shall be at the camp. Later, you will have a chance to engage in the main rafting but this depends on the water level you may also do the simple rafting in an inflated boat over the Sagana River. You shall spend the better part of your day here before you are transferred to your hotel for the night.

DAY 2: LAKE BOGORIA

After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Bogoria where you will watch birds and animals found in the area. Lake of Bogoria is famous for thousands of flamingos and beautiful hot springs. After a walk around the lake, you will proceed to Lake Bogoria spa for lunch.

Lake Bogoria is the jewel of the Great Rift Valley described by Bishop Hannington as the most beautiful view in Africa. The lake is well known for its hot geysers which spread out along its southern shores. Lake Bogoria has become the preferred feeding and nesting site for greater and lesser flamingos, and these regal creatures create a contrasting element of light pink tones.

DAY 3: LAKE BOGORIA TO SAIWA SWAMP NATIONAL PARK

We will depart Lake Bogoria after breakfast and drive to Kitale town arriving in time for lunch. After lunch move to Saiwa Swamp National Park, a forested paradise filled with exotic flowers, trees and birds. Have an afternoon  walk in search of Great blue turraco, Ross turraco, Luther’s bush shrike, White capped robin chat, Grey crown crane etc. You will also see various animals including sitatungas. This is the smallest national park in Kenya created specifically to protect the habitat and preserve the sitatungas, the aquatic antelope. It is an ideal park to visit if you enjoy walking and watching birds.

There are boardwalks and four strategically placed observation towers to watch the wildlife and 372 species of birds including the Ross’ turraco and the blue-headed coucal. The park boasts over 370 bird species some of which include; grey heron, African black duck, orange tufted sunbird, Hartlaubs Marsh widow bird, lesser jacana, Narina trogons, lesser jacana, collared sunbird, blue headed coucal brown throated wattle eye, double toothed barbet, eastern plantain eater, grey headed nigrita, grey headed francolin, joyful greenbul, swamp fly catcher, snowy crowned Robin chat, African fish eagle, and Ross’s turraco.

 DAY 4: KAKAMEGA FOREST NATIONAL RESERVE

After breakfast  head to Kakamega Forest National Reserve arriving at Rondo Retreat for in time for lunch. Have short rest then proceed for an afternoon walking safari on this forest. Kakamega Forest is the only true equatorial forest found in Kenya and is located in Kakamega. There are dazzling lush flowers everywhere lighting up the green with their varied colors, among them 60 types of orchids and 9 species. There are different bird species of birds including regal swallowtails, forest mother of pearl, black-tipped diadems, charaxes, green-banded swallowtails and Hobart’s red gliders.

DAY 5: KAKAMEGA FOREST TO LAKE VICTORIA (KISUMU)

After breakfast have an exciting nature walk accompanied by your local guide. During this time there are high chances of seeing a large variety of bird species endemic to this region as well a diverse plant life. Afterwards depart for Kisumu city located on the shores of Lake Victoria arriving at the prinias hotel in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will visit Impala Sanctuary and the later  enjoy watching the birds like African open bill stork, Swamp flycatcher, Red chested sunbird, Hammerkop, Eastern grey plantain-eater etc, around the lake as you have a boat ride in the lake.

Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa located in Kisumu, western frontier of Kenya and is named after Queen Victoria. The most popular activity here is boat riding, fishing and bird watching.

DAY 6: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

After your breakfast, you will head to Lake Nakuru National Park. Upon arrival you will have lunch at the lodge.After short rest proceed on an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park is also known as a bird watchers paradiseFlamingos are found on lake Nakuru giving the Lake a distinct pink hue. It is also home to the endangered black rhino, big cats and other wild life. Back to the hotel in the evening.

 DAY 7: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara National park where you will arrive in time for lunch. After lunch have game drives in this well preserved savannah wilderness which covers an area of 1510km2 and is part of the vast Serengeti plains. It is widely known for it wildebeest migration. It is home to the big five that, among other magnificent animals such as the giraffes, black backed jackal, bat eared fox, Thomson gazelle, topi and hartebeest. It also harbors over 500 different species of birds such as ostrich, bustard, white backed vulture, secretary bird and marabou stork.

DAY 8: MAASAI MARA FULL DAY GAME DRIVES

After a scrumptious breakfast you will head out for a full day Mara experience. The morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of the Big Five as well as the plethora of outstanding wildlife found within the reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera. Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara the abundance of wildlife is staggering. . It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. In the evening you have an optional visit to a Masai village at an extra cost.

DAY 9: MAASAI MARA TO LAKE NAIVASHA (VISIT HELLS GATE NAT PARK)

After an early breakfast you will head to Lake Naivasha. Lunch shall be en route at a designated restaurant. Your visit on this day lands you at Hells gate National Park. Hell’s Gate National Park provides a variety of wildlife, unusual flora and many species of birds and is one of the two only Kenyan Parks where Climbing, Walking are allowed with an option of biking which costs extra. You will tour the park enjoy the spectacular views of the gorge. The walking trip or safari takes about 3 hours. The hot springs and a fabulous scenic landscape besides the diverse game are just incredible. Drive back to your hotel for dinner and overnight

DAY 10: LAKE NAIVASHA TO AMBOSELI

On this day you shall leave Lake Naivasha and head to Amboseli National Park. Arrive in time for lunch. After lunch  enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive in search of the free range tusked elephants, wildebeest, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, Masai giraffe among other animals. Here you will also get to enjoy the breath-taking photogenic view of Mount Kilimanjaro; weather permitting. Return to the camp in the evening.

You have also a chance to see animals like red elephants, rhinos, leopards, cheetah, and giraffes among other wildlife.
