DESTINATIONS

  • MERU NATIONAL PARK – Meru National Park is home to the Big Five. Big herds of Elephants migrate through the park. Big cats are more difficult to spot, but it isn’t rare to have a sighting all to yourself. The guarded rhino sanctuary is an exhilarating highlight and you’re virtually guaranteed to both see black and white rhinos in their wild habitat. Visitors can see Grevy’s zebras, elephants, bohor reedbucks, hartebeests, pythons, puff adders, cobras, buffalos.

 

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: NAIROBI TO MERU NATIONAL PARK

Arrive at Rhino River Camp where a warm Swahili welcome awaits you. Enjoy a delicious lunch while taking in the breath-taking view of the Meru National Park below and then it’s time to settle into your tent. Meet your guide and begin your exploration of Meru National Park.

DAY 2: MERU NATIONAL PARK

Head out on a full-day exploration of a Meru National Park. We can also arrange for a bush breakfast or a bush lunch. This will allow you to spend more time on your game drive not to mention the thrill and the pleasure of having a meal into the wilderness of Africa. The park offers a thriving rhino sanctuary, and is famous for large elephant herds, hippo, lion, and birdlife; Meru National Park is recognized as having more diversity of animal species than any other park in East Africa. After an exciting day out, Enjoy a drink with a view from the small crater “Kilimajero” which is at a short distance from Rhino River Camp. The setting sun on the Nyambeni Hills will add to your enjoyment. Or ask us to arrange for a sundowner in one of the spots we have selected into the Park.

DAY 3: MERU NATIONAL PARK

Today’s activities include game drives, bush walks, as well as educational activities. The camp offers a swimming pool, a restaurant area, a well stocked bar as well as many activities for you to explore. Whether you choose to watch the African wildlife from the decks, walk in the bush or lie in the sun, Rhino River Camp can indulge in your every whim. At the camp, each room is designed with its own private “meditation” area. Here one can unwind, meditate, read a novel or simply sit back and listen to the sounds of the river. Designed in contemporary style with subtle hints of Africa, the rooms are very pleasant yet unobtrusive and elegant. The rooms are spacious and offer beautiful views of raffia palms, yellow fever trees, and tamarinds while overlooking the river. You can choose to eat on the terrace of your rooms, by the pool or even in the Bush at any time – the choice is entirely yours.

DAY 4: DEPARTURE

Head out as the sun is rising to enjoy your last game drive in Meru national park. Return to your lodge for breakfast and be ready to depart mid-morning for the return trip to Nairobi.
