Important Changes to Masai Mara Park Entry Fees

The Narok County Government, which governs the Maasai Mara National Reserve announced a significant increase in Maasai Mara Park entry Fees. The new park fees will be applicable to all travelers visiting the Masai Mara National Reserve from 1st January 2024 onwards. Kenyans residing in Narok County, however, will get some relief as they will pay less than anyone else per day and their children below 10 will enjoy free entry.

Please take note of the new rates below, The rates will be as follows for different seasons of travel.

Rates for Non-Residents from 1st January 2024 

1st January – 30th June 2024 (inclusive) for non-residents:

  1. USD 100 per day, per adult
  2. USD 50 per day, per child (9-17 years; 8 years and below are free)

1st July – 31st December 2024 (inclusive) for non-residents:

  1. USD 200 per day, per adult
  2. USD 50 per day, per child (9-17 years; 8 years and below are free)

Rates for residents from 1st January 2024

1st January – 30th June 2024 (inclusive) for residents:

  1. Ksh.3000 per day, per adult
  2. Ksh.1000 per day, per child/student (9-17 years; 8 years and below are free)
  3. Ksh.2000 per day, per adult Narok resident
  4. Ksh.500 per day per child Narok resident (10-17 years; 9 years and below are fee)
  5. Ksh.4500 per adult East African Resident
  6. Ksh.2000 per day per child/student East African Resident (10-17 years; 9 years and below are fee)

1st July – 31st December 2024 (inclusive) for residents:

  1. Ksh.3000 per day, per adult
  2. Ksh.1000 per day, per child/student (9-17 years; 8 years and below are free)
  3. Ksh.2000 per day, per adult Narok resident
  4. Ksh.500 per day per child Narok resident (10-17 years; 9 years and below are fee)
  5. Ksh.4500 per adult East African Resident
  6. Ksh.2000 per day per child/student East African Resident (10-17 years; 9 years and below are fee)

While these increases are substantial, we anticipate the expected increase in revenue to the Park from these changes could significantly improve the safari experience for guests in the Mara, in the form of increased ranger patrols, anti-poaching efforts and better-maintained roads, among other initiatives.

Moreover, effective from July 1, 2023, there has been a modification to the validity period of entry fees, where the daily park entry fee for the Masai Mara was adjusted from 24 hours to 12 hours. As a result, every guest must possess a valid park ticket for each night they spend in the park. On the day of departure, guests must be at the airstrip or leave the reserve by 11 a.m.
